Varanasi – Temples, The Ganges and Culture 

Varanasi the land of tradition; one of the oldest living cities in the world, which is older than history, older even than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together.

 

The city on the bank of the holy river “Ganga”. The city is the holiest cities in “Hinduism” and “Jainism”, and played an important role in the development of “Buddhism”.  The city has been a cultural centre of North India for several thousand years, and has a history that is older than most of the major world religions. While Flashpacking in Varanasi , you will feel the most historic culture, the people , the ghats of the river Ganga, the Sadhus, the ancient temples. 

 

Best time to visit 

Flaskpacking in Varanasi can be done year around; but the best season to visit Varanasi is in between October to March when the temperature is in a comfortable range of 10-20 degrees Celsius. The Ganga Festival also takes place in November

The People of Varanasi is religious. Most of the population follows Hinduism, as we can see many temples, ghats. We can also experience the Islam, Jainism and Buddhism. Varanasi is the oldest city of India known as the “City of God”, situated near the banks of the Ganges. 

 

Varanasi is famous worldwide for its art culture such as the silk and Banarasi Sarees, handicrafts, ornaments, metal work, textiles, clay, woodwork and many more. 

 

Try Jalebi and Dahi in the morning. Also option for Samosa and dahi with green chatani, Kachaudi and a variety of delicious sweets. In teh evening go for a tasty chaat. In the summer season, people love to drink Lassi with ice pieces. At the occasion of any fairs or festivals, they prepare variety of foods including Papad, Dahi bade, Desserts, Gujhiya, Chips, Pani Puri and other dishes.
